Brad Curtis Cronbaugh, 56, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sept. 4, 2015, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born Sept. 25, 1958, in Marengo, the son
of Larry and Helen Cronbaugh.
Brad graduated from Urbana High School in 1977.
Brad was a talented guitarist and played lead guitar during his youth in a couple of rock bands. He also cherished playing the guitar in his spare time, especially for the pleasure of family and friends, while sitting outside during the summer or around a night campfire. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved grilling outdoors and was an excellent cook. Brad also was an avid amateur photographer. He took many wonderful photos throughout the years. He also liked hunting and fishing.
Brad was employed as a press brake operator for nearly 30 years at Ideal Industries in Vinton.
Brad is survived by his older brother, Craig (Marlene) Cronbaugh; younger sister, Lori (Dennis) Schoepske; two nephews, Shane (Christine) Cronbaugh and Justin (Whitney) Beenken; two nieces, Latisha (Jermey) Purk and Chelsea Cronbaugh (Joe Clapp); two great-nephews, Keon Purk and Bentley Beenken; and three great-nieces, Kena Purk, Aiva Clapp and Quinnlyn Beenken.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, 1212 First Ave., Vinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed in Brad's name to the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit, St. Luke's Hospital, 1026 A Ave., P.O. Box 3026, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406.
