Boyle, Donna A.

Donna A. Boyle, 72, of 2413 Walden Ct., Iowa City, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, following complications of a stroke. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Private family burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mercy Hospital Foundation.

Donna was born Dec. 12, 1937, in Iowa City, the daughter of John and Geneva (Gough) Dee. Growing up in Iowa City, Donna graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1958. She worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital until 1962. Donna married Daniel Boyle on Aug. 25, 1962, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. She then worked in the dental clinic at the University of Iowa. Taking time off to raise her family, Donna returned to work in 1989 in pre-surgery at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, retiring in 2006.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel; her children, Sara Eckland (Kevin Keeling) of Bettendorf, Jennifer Boyle of New York City and Sean Boyle of Phoenix; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Eckland, Megan Eckland, Paige Eckland and Grace Eckland; and a sister, Mary Kelly (Richard) of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents.
