Bowman, L. Ava Hedrick

L. Ava Hedrick Bowman, 96, died April 27, 2013, at the Kansas City Hospice House.

She was born May 14, 1916, in Milford, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Max Hedrick and Don Bowman; her parents, Frank and Lena Williams; and her sister, Marian Buchanan.

Ava is survived by her three children, Kent (Patty) Hedrick, Jean (Paul) Anderson and Neil (Mary) Hedrick; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Hedrick.

Ava was an elementary schoolteacher in Iowa for many years. She and Max lived in Mason City for nearly 50 years, then moved and lived in Cedar Rapids. Ava lived her last six years in Overland Park, Kan.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Knox Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, Kan. Inurnment will follow in Mason City, Iowa.
