Bowers, Maybelle
Former longtime Strawberry Point resident Maybelle Bowers, currently of Mesa, Ariz., died unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012. She was 96.
Maybelle is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Bill) Behrens of Mesa, Ariz., and Jacquie (Carroll) McTaggart of Independence. She also leaves behind an extended family that brought her much joy, including five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bowers; her parents, Chris and Gusta Otterbeck; and three siblings, Helen Layton, Yula Smith and Bill Otterbeck.
A memorial service will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point at a later date.
