Bower, John Lahman
John Lahman Bower, 86, of Parsonsfield, Maine, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010. He was born and raised in Winnetka, Ill., son of Lahman and Helen Cumming Bower. A graduate of New Trier High School, he attended Wesleyan University before entering the Navy during World War II. He served on a destroyer escort in the Pacific. John graduated from Coe College where he met his wife, Janice Bailey. He received an M.A. from Harvard University, taught at Williams College and the University of New Brunswick.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Bower; son, David; daughter, Helen; sister, Nancy Bower Holmes; a niece; and three nephews.
