Bowen, Mable M.
Mable M. Bowen, 92, of Anamosa, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa. A funeral service celebrating Mable's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam Silver (Wayne) of Cedar Rapids; six grandsons, Jeffrey (Melinda) Silver of Lisbon, Robert (India) Silver of Marion, Shawn (Amy) Silver and Cory (Kim) Silver of Cedar Rapids, Bill (Megan) Bowen of Prescott and Doug Bowen of Westminster, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Allison, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Crystal, Victoria, Adrianna Silver, Reice and Anslee Jo Bowen; stepgreat granddaughter, Breanna Moore; daughter-in-law, Helen McNaught of Afton; and sister-in-law, LaVonne Carlson of Moberly, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Bowen in 2004; son, David; three brothers; and a sister.
Mable was born Feb. 16, 1920, in rural Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of David and Anna (Nelson) Carlson. She married Robert L. Bowen on Aug. 16, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. Mable was a former member of the United Methodist Women at Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Marion, and most recently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Onslow. She and her husband retired from farming in 1986, after 45 years. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, gardening and traveling with her husband. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
