Bowen, Everette F. Jr.
Everette F. Bowen Jr., 64, of 300 Pheasant Ave, Atkins, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center of a heart attack. Funeral mass: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Paul Catholic Church, Newhall by Father Brian Dellaert. Burial: St. John Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post No. 727. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Everette is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Shannon (Marla) of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Brooke (Brent) Moore of Atkins; five grandchildren, Jessica, Nicole, Bailey, Brayden and Bowen; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Niles and one on the way, Landon; and a sister, Arlyce (Jim) Meyer of Littleton, Colo.
His parents and a brother, Arthur, preceded Everette in death.
Everette Francis Bowen, Jr. was born on Sept. 9, 1946, the son of Everette and Grace Sedlak Bowen. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He married Susan Bervid on Nov. 10, 1969. Everette worked for Mestek, Inc. as an after market salesman.
Everette enjoyed fishing and his trips to Canada and going to the casino. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with his family.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
