Bouchaute, Laverne R.
Laverne R. Bouchaute, 85, of Wheatland, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at her home. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. James Catholic Church, Toronto, Iowa, by the Rev. William Kneemiller. Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Big Rock. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Born June 30, 1927, in Watkins, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Becker) Etscheidt, she married Albert Bouchaute on Feb. 10, 1955, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Watkins.
She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband near Lowden for 20 years. In 1975, they moved to Wheatland, where she worked as a waitress at Mac's Triangle and Wapsi Oaks Country Club for several years. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent baker. Her card club, coffee klutches and love of cats meant a lot to her. She was artistic, creative and loved to make crafts.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Albert; daughters Judie (Dave) Carson and Janis (Jan) Muhl of Wheatland; son, John (Nancy) Bouchaute of Maquoketa; granddaughters, Jennifer (Matt) Heitland of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Jessica Muhl and fiance Luke Shelton of Grand Mound; stepgrandchildren, Dennis (Leigh) Carson and Daryl (Julie) Carson of Cedar Rapids and Kim (Marty) Clark of Maquoketa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Virginia Etscheidt of Cedar Rapids; and sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Clarence Thoman of Norway, Iowa.
