Roy died Monday, July 30, from lung cancer. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Shellsburg.
He is survived by his daughters, Judy Robertson of Shellsburg, Kim Day of Cedar Rapids, and Julie Sandal of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Sydney, Clark, Sean, Lauren and Nicole; a sister, Jane Fencl; and brother, Carson Borseth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lola and Mahlon Borseth; brother, Richard; and sisters, Penny Hickey and Linda Zahradnik.
Roy was born in Decorah, Iowa, and grew up in Cedar Rapids. He attended Kirkwood Community College where he received his Welding Certificate. He lived at Geneva Towers for several years and then Evergreen Estates in Cedar Rapids.
Loving funny memories are shared by relatives and his card playing buddy “Dan.”
He loved hunting, fishing and playing bingo. Watch out for those fish tales in heaven!
