Borg, Thelma C.

Thelma C. Borg, 90, of Marion, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Summit Pointe, Marion. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. A gathering will be held from noon until service time Friday at the church. Private inurnment will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie (Al) DuFaux of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; son-in-law, Rob Cook of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Davis of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Kathryn Cook of Arlington, Va., Rob (Jenni) Cook of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Evan DuFaux of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; great-grandson, Drake Davis; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Corrine) Borg of Naperville, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie on Aug. 30, 2009; daughter, Jane Cook on Aug. 9, 2008; and her parents.
Thelma was born in Norway, Iowa, and was raised on the family farm. She later attended and graduated from Coe College. On August 12, 1947, Thelma married Arnie Borg in Norway. She devoted 23 years of her life to teaching Home Economics at Vernon Middle School in Marion. Thelma was world renowned for her outstanding taco and pie parties. She was also known for her love of Christmas year-round.
