Borg, Arnold 'Arnie'
Arnold "Arnie" Borg, 86, of Marion, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Summit Pointe, Marion, following a lengthy illness.
Memorial service:
11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, with Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Memorial gathering will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday. Private inurnment with military rites will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Thelma of Marion; daughter, Julie (Al) DuFaux of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; son-in-law: Rob Cook of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Davis of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Katy Cook of Alexandria, VA., Rob (Jenni) Cook of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Evan DuFaux of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; brother, Jerry (Corrine) Borg of Naperville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Jane Cook, on 08/09/08.
Arnold Borg was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Stratford, the son of Oscar & Mildred (Newburg) Borg. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. On Aug. 12, 1947, he married Thelma Corrine Olson in Norway. Following his retirement from Sieg Automotive, Arnie and Thelma wintered in San Antonio, Texas, where he enjoyed the sunshine and many good rounds of golf. Arnie's long life was marked by his strong faith and his love of his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be remembered by his family and lifelong friends for his kindness, his caring nature and unforgettable smile.
