Boom, Thomas 'Boomer' Ray
Thomas "Boomer" Ray Boom, 64, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 8 at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW with Celebrant Mary Morgan presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Brosh Chapel. Private family inurnment will be at later date in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Boomer was born on Sept. 27, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Albert H. and Mildred Blagdon Boom. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962. Tom worked at Hamad's Skelly, Nash Finch, Chesapeak and for Pizza Hut. Tom loved to spend his time hunting and fishing. He was a true lover of the outdoors.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Doris of 15 years, his daughter Pamela (Kevin) Ammeter of Walford, three stepsons Lester McCorkle of Cedar Rapids, John (Judi) McCorkle of Okeechobee, Fla., and Robert McCorkle of Omaha, Neb., four grandsons Brian "Squeaky," Greg, Kaleb "Trouble" and Parker "Park-Park", two granddaughters Becky and Jessica, a great-grand daughter Sydney "Carp catcher", a special daughter Donna (Dean) Alger of Central City, his siblings Nadine (Wayne) Reinhart of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a brother-in-law, Ronald Tietge of Cedar Rapids, a very special friend Terry TeBockhorst as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom is thankful for the friends in his life especially Pete, Dan, Skip, Karen and Nikki, as well as the Minnesota fishing friends, and the sweethearts from the swim class.
Preceded in death in by his parents, his sister Yvonne Tietge, and a great nephew Douglas Ronald Tietge.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Karen Harmon as well as the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their exceptional care and love shown to Tom.
