She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ray; her sons, Craig (Debra), Williams Bay, Wis., Jeff (Kristi), Anamosa, and Ben (Lauren), Iowa City; six grandchildren, Tom, Josie, Zak, Ashlyn, Conor and Ellie; her brother, Bill (Janice) Schroeder, Des Moines; and a sister-in-law, Janet Albaugh, Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Leo, Larry, Betty, Phylis and Fay. Bonny Rose Schroeder was born May 21, 1938, to Lawrence and Evelyn Heider Schroeder. She attended grade school in Acadia, Iowa, and graduated from Carroll Kemper Catholic High School in 1956. She was well-traveled in her early life because of her father's construction job. She met her husband for life and best friend Ray Fortune in 1958 and they were married on Jan. 17, 1959, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple lived in Ankeny, where Bonny worked for Sportsmen's, designing athletic team wear. In 1972, they moved to Anamosa, where she was employed at the Anamosa Journal-Eureka as ad and news manager. She later was employed at Northwestern Bell as a customer service representative in the Anamosa business office. When the couple moved to West Des Moines, Bonny worked at Eichacker Enterprises, Hair PHD, as corporate secretary. Bonnie enjoyed several winters in Arizona and summers at the family cabin in northern Minnesota. She loved to play golf, sewing, homemaking, wood refinishing, bridge, reading and raising their three sons and supporting their sports and education. She was active in the Anamosa community when she lived here. Bonny was treasurer of the Jaycees, president of the Study Club, Anamosa Hospital auxiliary and president and chair of the Women's golf and couples golf at Fawn Creek Country Club. Bonny was an avid Hawkeye fan and she and Ray had only missed one Hawkeye football game in 30 years. She had a love for family and life and will be missed by all who knew her, especially by her husband, Ray.
