Bonnie L. McCoy, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services are pending with Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids. She donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Program.
Bonnie was born July 10, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Earl Burt and Doris Sarah (Walsh) McCready. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1951, and married Roland Lee in 1952. They were married for 23 years. During this time, she worked as an office assistant to Cedar Rapids Doctors of Psychiatry. Bonnie was united in marriage to Walter McCoy in 1982. Upon retirement, Bonnie enjoyed working as a counselor and manager for the Diet Center. In her leisure time, she and her husband Wally spent many years together on the Cedar River at Ellis Harbor. Bonnie was a strong Christian and instilled her beliefs on her family. She enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes and spending precious time with her loving family.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Wally; her children, Steven (Connie) Lee and Lori (Kevin) Bestick; and stepdaughter, Angelicque (Shane) Sugihara; grandchildren, Cory (Ashlie) Lee, Christina Lee, Claire (Zach) Bonar, Paul Bestick, Madeline Bestick, Hunter Sugihara and Shayna Sugihara; and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Bode and Taygan.
Memorials may be directed to Unity Point Hospice in her name.
