Bonnie Jeanne Voss, 89, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Winslow House Care Center in Marion. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will greet friends and family from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the King of Kings Lutheran Church, located at 3275 N. Center Point Road in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A celebration
of Bonnie's eternal life in Christ will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church with her son-in-law, Rev. Richard Balvanz, officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Worthington, Minn.
Bonnie was born on May 21, 1932, in Worthington, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Edna (Carstens) Sohn. On January 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert H. Voss at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1998, in Davenport, Iowa. Bonnie worked as secretary for the Iowa Department of Human Services for 35 years. She was a member of the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Bonnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bonnie is survived and lovingly remembered by her three children, Gregory (Carla) Voss of Seward, Neb., Jolene (Richard) Balvanz of Marion and Merilee Voss of Ankeny, Iowa; five grandchildren, Tonya (Tony) Martinez of Pueblo West, Colo., Stacy Hinds of Kansas City, Mo., Jarrod Voss of Kansas City, Seth Balvanz of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Sarah (Rob) Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Robert Voss.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bonnie's memory may be directed to either; Trinity Lutheran School, at 1122 West Central Park Ave., Davenport, IA 52804; or to King of Kings Lutheran Church of Cedar Rapids.
