BONNIE LEE HART
Cedar Rapids
Bonnie Lee Hart, daughter of Robert and Yvonne (Hime) Darling, was born Jan. 13, 1958, in Iowa City, Iowa. Bonnie was united in marriage to Billy Lee Hart on Dec. 31, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bonnie worked at various businesses as a bartender and cashier. In 1998, Bonnie and Billy bought a farm northeast of Diagonal, Iowa, where they would spend time. They moved to the farm about 5½ years ago and made it their home. Bonnie worked as a cashier at Smith Oil in Mount Ayr and did volunteer work at the Mount Ayr Neighborhood Center.
Bonnie was a collector of items and loved to buy stuff and was always buying things for her grandkids. Bonnie loved her family and spending time with them was very important. She took care of her family; she loved to cook for them; and she loved spending time with her twin sister Bobbie. Bonnie enjoyed saying, "don't take any wooden nickels!"
Bonnie passed away unexpectantly at her home on Oct. 24, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy Darling.
Those who will cherish her memory include her husband, Billy Hart of Diagonal; five children, Michelle (Robert III) Clark of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Larry Messerschmitt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Hailey Hart, Jessica Hart and Christopher Hart, all of Springville, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Brittney Rupe, Anthony Clark, Nicolas Clark, Thomas Watsky, Alexa Messerschmitt, Kyana Messerschmitt and Rylann Braby-Long; four great-grandchildren, James Clark, Isabella Clark, Cyrus Rupe and Rumour Rupe; five siblings, Bobbie Fetter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Pam McBride of Iowa City, Iowa, Pancy Ruggels of North Liberty, Iowa, Butch Darling of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Emery Darling of Cherokee, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Per her wishes, Bonnie has been cremated. April was Bonnie's favorite time of year and a celebration of life is being planned for April 2022. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is assisting the family.
