Bonnie L. Coller, 86, of rural Jesup, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Buchanan County Health Center in
Independence.
She was born March 27, 1927, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Franklin and Violet (Braun) Barnes.
Bonnie was a graduate of Waterloo East High School. She was united in
marriage with Joe W. Coller on Dec. 30, 1945, in Waterloo.
Bonnie worked for a short time at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo. She and Joe farmed together for many years in rural Jesup. Bonnie enjoyed visiting with family and friends, working crossword puzzles, reading and embroidery. She also cared for a large garden at her home for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Joe of rural Jesup; two sons, Jim (Sharon) Coller of Center Point, and Frank (Jeanine) Coller of Bettendorf; five grandchildren, Brian (Penny) Coller of Center Point,
Teresa (Aaron) Cretin of Atkins, Jeff (Laura) Coller of Ankeny, Rachel (Jeff) McClain of Chillicothe, Ill., and Dustin Morris; and 17 great-grand
children.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; a daughter, Joan Morris; a granddaughter, Melissa Wither; and a brother, James Barnes.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at La Porte City Funeral Home with burial in West View Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and one hour before the service Friday at the
funeral home.
Memorials may be
directed to the Buchanan County Health Center Long Term Care Unit in Independence or the Alzheimer's Association.
