EUGENE BOFFELI
Monticello
Eugene Boffeli, 82, died Thursday Jan. 9, 2014, at Jones Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Military Honors presented at the church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Surviving are eight children, Francis Boffeli, Coggon, Tony Boffeli, Cheryl (Mike) Hogan and Shawn (Keri) Boffeli, all of Monticello, Roger (Jodi) Boffeli of Runnells, Kevin Boffeli of Iowa City, Andy Boffeli of Davenport, and Dawn (David) Wachsteter of Kennesaw, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Jenni Valle, Joe (Courtney) Boffeli, Nicolette (Danny) Wennekamp, Keeley Hogan, Ashley Boffeli, Brandon Boffeli, Molly Boffeli, Mya Boffeli, Maci Boffeli and Dru Boffeli; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Rosene Trumm of Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; an infant son, Keith; five brothers; and six sisters.
Eugene F. Boffeli was born Nov. 6, 1931, at Farley, Iowa. He was the son of Peter and Katherine Arlen Boffeli. Eugene attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Farley. Eugene served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On June 9, 1953, Eugene Boffeli and Maxine Lynch of Cascade, were united in marriage at Fillmore. Eugene worked in agri-business his whole working career, either on the farm or at co-ops.
Eugene enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, gardening, mushroom hunting, helping Frank chop wood and the Cubs.
The family would like to thank Monticello Nursing & Rehab, the Jones Regional Medical Center and Above & Beyond Home Health & Hospice for their care for Eugene over the past years.
