Boddicker, Richard (Butch)
Richard (Butch) Boddicker passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, surrounded by his family. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with the Rev. Craig Steimel Celebrant. Burial: St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the parish center with a rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly; five children, Linda (Alan) Gessner of Newhall, Scott (Jan) Boddicker of Norway, Wayne Boddicker (Chris) of Cedar Rapids, Julie (John) Kuester of Watkins and Jody (Marcia) Boddicker of Eldridge; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sheryl (Jim) Vanscoyoc and Karen (Art) Schulte; brother, Mike (Lisa) Boddicker; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was born Nov. 11, 1941, in Norway to Harold “Bus” and Mary “Dolly” (Emanuel) Boddicker. He graduated from Norway High School and resided in the area his entire life. He retired from Colonial Bread Company, after 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Boddicker; nieces, Marge Holub and Mary-Kay Schulte; and mother and father-in-law, Emil and Erma Tomas.
He was an avid fisherman, golfer and hunter. He enjoyed baseball, was a loyal Cubs fan and enjoyed playing cards. He also loved spending time with his grandkids.
The family would like to express deepest gratitude to Richard's doctors and the St. Luke's Hospice nurses who provided Richard with excellent care.
