Bock, Harold Gene
Harold Gene Bock, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday Sept. 15, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Marion. Prior to the service, a visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Marion. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Kathleen Bock of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Lori Canning (John) of Anamosa and Susan Bock of Marion; three grandchildren, Rhiannon (Jerry) Skilling, Jordon (Jenni) Skilling, and Hannah Olson; and special niece, Donna Wilson of Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl, Robert, Darrell, and Wayne; and one sister, Arlene Cartano.
Harold Gene Bock was born Feb. 22, 1928, the son of Carl and Ella Reginetter Bock. He served his country honorably in the United States Army in World War II. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Svoboda on Oct. 1, 1950 in Marion, Iowa. Harold worked in the sales department for Rockwell Collins until he retired after 38 1/2 years. He was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. Harold delighted in the time he spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at the Hospice of Mercy.
A memorial fund has been established for the family.
