Robert E. Miller, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died at 10:30 a.m. January 10, 2024 at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.
He was born March 13, 1943 in Ottumwa to Harvey and Clara Roberts Miller. Bobby was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and of Iowa State University where he earned a degree in engineering.
He had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant near Burlington before starting his career at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. He worked there the majority of his life and owned several patents.
Bobby loved trout fishing, especially in northeast Iowa. He enjoyed collecting guns and watching college football.
Surviving are his brother, Michael Miller of Moravia; nieces and nephew, Robyn Miller, Preston Miller, Vicki Murphy, Cherie Altheide and Penny Miller; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Lee Miller and Earl Gene Miller; a nephew, Gene Miller; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Miller and Erma Miller.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 17th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
