Bobby E. Siberts, 71, of Iowa City, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 5, 2021.
Bobby's ashes will be placed in the columbarium at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Private services will be held at St. Michael's.
Instead of flowers and plants, his family suggests that memorial donations be directed to the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
Bobby was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Burlington, Iowa, to Dorothy M. Siberts and Bobby E. Siberts (who died in the polio epidemic in late 1949). Bobby also was a beloved son of Dorothy and Dr. Perry J. Haist. He grew up in New London, Iowa, where he was very active in sports (baseball, basketball, football and track) and 4-H, where he raised and showed horses - a talent he continued as a young adult.
He received a Bachelor's degree from Iowa State University.
Bobby worked in construction as a general contractor in Des Moines and Iowa City, moving to the Iowa City area in 1991. After many years of operating his own business, he retired in 2019.
Survivors include his daughter, Dawn Fowler Siberts of Coralville and son Brandon Siberts of Iowa City; grandchildren, Taylor Fowler and Sterling Fowler, both of Coralville; sisters, Stephanie Shively (Dr. Terry Shively), Spencer, Iowa, and Jane Haist, Brewster, Mass.; brother, Scott Haist of Clearwater, Fla.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.
Written remembrances can be shared with the family at Lensing Funeral Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, IA 52240 or www.lensingfuneral.com.
