Blomme, Virgil E.
Virgil E. Blomme, 72, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, by Deacon Joe Behounek. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Gorsch) Blomme; daughters, Marcia (Gary) Mumby and Lynn (Dennis) Parizek, both of Belle Plaine; brothers, Vernon (Mary Ellen) Blomme of Belle Plaine and Russell (Carol) Blomme of Marengo; sister, Beverly Maschmann of Marengo; sister-in-law, Elsie Blomme of Belle Plaine; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Emil A. and Marie Steyaert Blomme; two brothers, Howard (Connie) and Richard; two granddaughters, Lisa and Michelle Kimm; father-in-law, Lloyd (Bud) Gorsch; and mother-in-law, Edith Martinson.
A memorial fund has been established.
