Blinks, John Thomas
John Thomas Blinks, 84, of the Mechanicsville Nursing Home, formerly of Lisbon, died Sept. 12, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness. An Open House will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Choices in Mount Vernon. Family services will be at a later date.
Surviving are his children, Paul (Janette), Debra (Lon) Hoke, John Curtis (Laura), Doug (Chris) and Alberta Brian (Meretta); 17 grandchildren' 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Haase (Goodspeed).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Emily Blinks; and brothers, David and Charles Blinks.
John was born June 14, 1929, in rural Mount Vernon to Albert and Emily (Emerson) Blinks and was a graduate of the Mount Vernon High School class of 1948. John was a member of the Iowa National Guard. He was a master carpenter and farmer in the Lisbon/Mount Vernon area.
