Blessing, Robert R.
Robert R. Blessing, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Living Center East, where he had resided for 4 1/2 years.
He was born May 22, 1922, in Lisbon, Iowa, to Howard and Doris (Kohl) Blessing. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army Air Force from 1942 until his discharge in 1946. He was employed by Link-Belt Speeder as a dispatcher from 1946 to 1967, when he moved to California. He returned to Cedar Rapids in 1988.
He is survived by his sister, Juanita Trachta of Cedar Point; his niece, Sharon McKnight of Cedar Rapids; and three nephews, Doug Trachta, Allan and Eldon Blessing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Paul.
He donated his body to the University of Iowa Medical Research Program. Per his wishes there will be no visitation or service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
