Blesie, Eric R.
Eric R. Blesie, 41, of Marion, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with cancer. Services celebrating Eric's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Blesie; two sons, Ethan and Carson of Marion; mother, Sharon (Paul) Hicks of Des Moines; sister, Tonya (Autumn) Jansen of Ankeny; stepbrother, Eric Hicks of Norwalk, Iowa; mother- and father-in-law, John “Lou” and Loretta Fuglesten of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; brother-in-law, Rod (Joalyn) Torgerson; sisters-in-law, Angie (Scott) Kurtz and Amber (Sergio) Sanles; and nieces and nephews, Kendall Jansen, Ella Brunia, Amelia and Sydney Torgerson, Skyler and Landen Kurtz, and Isaac and Amaya Sanles.
Eric Richard Blesie was born Oct. 14, 1971, in Kirksville, Mo., the son of Doug and Sharon (Garrett) Blesie. On June 14, 2003, he married Amy Fuglesten in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Eric owned and served as president of Nepo Productions in Marion for the past 12 years. Eric's knowledge of diverse audio, video, and lighting experience was gathered over the years while working around the world with several organizations. He worked on high profile projects including the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, The Pope's visit to Central Park, former President Bill Clinton's two inauguration parades, 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada, cricket matches in England, and he has also worked on many feature films and commercials. Eric has worked with networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and ESPN on many events.
Eric was a member and past president of the local videographer club. He was very proud of his involvement in the community through the club from dance recitals to corporate level media.
Eric enjoyed “techy” anything and music, but his greatest joy will always be his two boys, whom he loved dearly. A memorial fund has been established in Eric's name.
