Blazek, Joanne Toni
Joanne Toni Blazek, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, following a sudden illness. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Burial will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her three children, Deborah (Kevin) Carney and Rick (Geraldine) Blazek, all of Cedar Rapids, and Vickie (Jerry) Hill of Missouri; four brothers and one sister, Nick (Kathy) Slocum, Dale (Mary Jo) Slocum, Carl (Connie) Slocum, Kathleen (Bob) Harger and George (Lynn) Slocum; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Mike.
Joanne was born April 19, 1935, in St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Dale and Emma Jane (Stangl) Slocum. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. She married Franklin Blazek, they were later divorced. She retired from Rockwell Collins with over 35 years of service.
She will be missed dearly by her family, especially and the grandchildren who she always made feel special in their own way.
Memorial donations in Joanne's honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
