Blaylock Jr., Joseph
Joseph Blaylock Jr., 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at ManorCare. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW.
Joseph was born June 1, 1924, in Walford, the son of Joseph and Barbara Svoboda Blaylock. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Beverly A. Crumpacker on Sept. 5, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. Joseph enjoyed spending the afternoons at the VFW Post 788 tipping back a cold one and joking with friends. He was an avid golfer and Cubs fan, and enjoyed playing Bingo with the ladies.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Kim Anderson; son, Bret (Michele) Blaylock, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Brandon Brokel and Lacy Anderson; and step daughter, Shari Saari.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; brother, Lumir; and sisters, Myme Holicek, Adaline Edwards and Ermma McNeil.
