Blankman, Lorene E.

Lorene E. Blankman, 90, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Lakeview Village, Amana. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Watkins, with Father Jack McClure C.PP.S. officiating. Burial: St. Patrick and St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Watkins. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. today at the church, with Scripture service at 7 p.m.

 Lorene was born Oct. 27, 1919, to John C. and Dorothea “Dora” Frese Schulte, in rural Norway. She graduated from Norway High School. On Nov. 26, 1940, she married Orville Blankman at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway.

 Survivors include daughters, Marlene (Gary) Turner, Carolyn Chittick (Gene Hines), Joyce Miller, Anita (Dennis) Kimm, Barbara (Gary) Volesky, Mary (Ron) Wilhelmi and Laurie (Jeff) Becker; 29 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Glenn (Dorothy) Schulte; and sisters, Marjorie (Leonard) Jansa and Barbara (Regis) Arp.

 Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Orville; daughter, Dorothy Zaugg; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Peterson; brothers, George, Bernard, Herbert and Ray Schulte; sisters, Marcella Montague, Sister Lumena and Margaret Hansen; and three sons-in-law.

 Lorene was a dedicated Mother and Grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her daughters and their families. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved gardening and raising chickens.

 The family wishes to thank the staff at Lakeview Village and Essence of Life Hospice for the excellent care and support during this difficult time.
