Blane "Pappy" Phillips Sr. passed away Oct. 3, 2021. Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with Military Honors.
Pappy was born March 1, 1922, in Algona, Iowa. Pappy graduated from Ft. Dodge in 1940. He was in the Army and WWII. Pappy then went on to marry Arlene Kennedy for 70 years where they went on to have three sons.
Pappy worked at Rockwell Collins for 30 years. He retired in 1982. Pappy also was a 32° mason for 50 years. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1992 with a degree in Geology. He loved camping, fishing, rocks and, most of all, chocolate.
Pappy is survived by his two sons, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, and a great-grandchild.
"Pappy can now be a star in the sky with GiGi. One green for money and one of chocolate."
