Blanche K. Miller died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 94 years.
Blanche was born April 15, 1920, near Hesston, Kan., the daughter of Rudolph and Catherine (King) Blosser. On Feb. 2, 1941, she was united in marriage to Alton B. Miller in Hesston. They moved to Iowa after their marriage and made their home in the Kinross, Wellman and Kalona communities.
Blanche was a member of Salem Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and making quilts.
Blanche is survived by three children, Evan Miller of Wellman, Kathryn (Robert) Gerten of Burwell, Neb., and Judith (Geoffrey) Parker of Mulmar, Ontario; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton; a son, Gary Miller; two grandsons, E. Zachary Gerten and Eric Miller; four brothers, Byron, Melvin, Vernon and Virgil Blosser; and three sisters, Thelma, Wilma and an infant.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Sharon Bethel Church, rural Kalona, with ministers Gerald Kreider, Wilford Beachy and John Weaver in charge. Burial will be in Sharon Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established for Christian Aid Ministry and Salem Church.
