BLANCHE GRACE CAHILL
Fort Dodge
Blanche Grace Cahill was born Jan. 30, 1924, in London, England. She entered heaven to reunite with her mother, Carolyn Murphy; her father, John Murphy; 12 siblings; her son, James Paul Cahill; and husband, Edward James Cahill, on Dec. 3, 2017, at Crestview Acres in Marion.
Blanche survived World War II and the bombing of London and served as a crane operator during the blitz. After the war, she boarded the Queen Elizabeth to come to the United States and married Edward James Cahill, who was a U.S. sailor during the war. They were together until his death in 1987. She also lost her young son, James Paul Cahill, at an early age.
Blanche was committed to the poor and needy and did everything she could to help, including knitting doll clothes for Christmas gifts. She was a strong and committed person.
She is survived by her son, Edward John Cahill; his wife, Nancy; her grandchildren, Zachary Andrew Cahill (Amanda) and Jonathan James Cahill; her great-grandchildren, Caden, Devin and Chloe; and her many relatives in England.
Her son will miss her greatly and never forget her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fort Dodge. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
