Blakley, Penny A.
Penny A. Blakley, 57, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, with the Rev. Randy Munson officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Penny was born Nov. 28, 1952, in Iowa City, the daughter of Ray and Ruth (Jensen) Klinkkammer. She was raised in the West Branch area, graduating from West Branch High School in 1971. In 1998, Penny married Michael McConnell. Michael died in 1998. On Feb. 13, 2006, she was united in marriage with Gizz Blakley in Bullhead City, Ariz. Penny had been employed at Loparex for 15 years.
Penny's smile radiated warmth and friendliness to others. She loved to read and spend time outdoors, especially when she rode a motorcycle with Gizz, played golf or traveled to Arizona. Most important to her was making those around her happy. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Penny is survived by her loving husband, Gizz; her daughter, Charity Reynolds (Joshua Holstein), grandson, Greyson Alatalo, and her son Benjamin Reynolds, all of Iowa City; stepchildren, Micah Blakley (Lexis Wells), Tara Blakley and Jay (Katie) Blakley and their sons Carter and Cal, all of Iowa City, Kelly (Bill) Matthys of Davenport, Brian McConnell (Shannon Veatch) and Kevin (Brittany) McConnell, both of Iowa City; her siblings, Steven M. (Marlene) Klinkkammer of Iowa City, Stan R. “Butch” (Eve) Klinkkammer of West Branch, Mike J. (Bonnie) Klinkkammer of Downey, Sherri Lynn (Patrick) Novak of North Liberty, Tina Marie (Tom) Keith of Nichols, Marcia (Richard) Frauenholtz of North Liberty and Mark A. Klinkkammer of Petaluma, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, and first husband, Michael.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, Iowa City Eagles Lodge or to an educational fund for her grandson Greyson.
