Blake, Hazel Roena Carr
Funeral services for Hazel Roena Carr Blake, 101, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Tipton, who died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. Visitation will be held one hour before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Hazel was born Oct. 9, 1910, in rural Cedar County, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Iona (Lahmon) Carr. She attended rural Cedar County schools while growing up. Hazel was united in marriage to Edwin John Blake on Feb. 25, 1933, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen (Ronald) Ford of Loveland, Colo., and Carolyn (John) Cook of Tipton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Blake on March 13, 2007; sisters, Wretha Clippinger and Sylvia Carr; and brothers, Harold and John Carr.
