Blaha, Charles A.
Charles A. Blaha, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at Mercy Hallmar. Funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Daniel Clark-Bridges of Hope Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and also at the chapel after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; two sons, Dennis and wife Linda and Dale and wife Teri, all of Cedar Rapids; and four grandchildren, Darren and wife Kristin of Oskaloosa, Andrea, Sean and Sarah Blaha. all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edwin; and a sister, Helen Schminke.
Charles was born Feb. 13, 1922 in Irving, Iowa, to Charles and Vlasta Kucera Blaha. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Dorothy E. Christensen on July 6, 1952 in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hanford American Legion Post No. 5 and the Model A Club. He enjoyed fishing and received his pilot's license at Hunters Airport.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
The family wishes special thanks to the Mercy Hallmar staff and Hospice of Mercy for their tender care of Charles.
