BJ Workman, 35, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of BJ’s life will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at Third Base Brewery, located at 500 Blairs Ferry Road NE #2 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
BJ was born on July 27, 1987, in Palos Heights, Ill., to Jeff and Robyn Workman. He was a 2005 graduate of Linn-Mar High School and later went on to earn his Plumbing Apprenticeship Certificate. BJ shared a love of movies and TV shows that he watched over and over again. He would drop movie quotes into conversations to see who could catch them. BJ loved to record sports games to watch them well after they are over and make the family stay quiet about the scores. Jessica, his partner, was his love and his protector. Wherever she was, was his home. He adored his cats, Snoopy and Rascal. He loved to send his favorite songs to his family and friends - that was his way of sharing his heart. BJ was everyone's favorite person to have late-night conversations with. He had a highly competitive spirit - whether it be football pools, board games, or math tests in middle school, his passion was to win no matter what.
BJ’s unique sense of humor and wit was unmatchable. His signature giggle will forever be embedded in our hearts. BJ could write you a poem or draw you a picture that would touch your heart in the most beautiful way. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
BJ was a gentle soul. Fly high “Beejer Bum.”
BJ is survived and lovingly remembered by his loving companion and life partner, Jessica Price of Cedar Rapids; mother, Robyn Workman of Cedar Rapids; father, Jeff (Lisa) Workman of Las Vegas, Nev.; siblings, Valerie Workman of Kansas City, Kan., Stephanie Workman (Brian Blaha) of Marion, Iowa, Blake (Korrie) Workman of Blue Springs, Mo., Taylor McGovern (Mallory Alter) of Cedar Rapids and Riley McGovern (Bre Mundorf) of Cedar Rapids; niece, Penny Roe McCracken of Marion; uncle, John Workman of Burlington, Iowa; aunts, Gail Workman of Inverness, Fla., and Nancy (Tom) Bugler of Kansas City, Kan.; many cousins; and his beloved fur babies, “Snoopy” and “Rascal.”
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bert Philips; and paternal grandparents, Dale and Doris Workman.
Memorials in BJ’s memory may be made to the family to be designated later.
