Dustin Lloyd Bissell, 31, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly Dec. 4, 2013, in Grand Junction, Colo. A private funeral service was held Dec. 7, 2013, in Delta, Colo. A Celebration of Life for Dustin will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Edgewood Locker Event Center in Edgewood, Iowa.
Dustin was born Sept. 2, 1982, to Curtis and Gayla Bissell in Edgewood, Iowa. Dustin graduated from Edgewood-Colesburg High School in 2000, and later attended Iowa State University.
In 2007, Dustin moved to Austin, Colo., where he met and married the love of his life, Rachel (Vigil) on July 18, 2009. Dustin owned and operated Bissell Mobile Home and Transport Service. Dustin was a devoted husband, brother and our family patriarch.
Dustin enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, movies, video games, Mountain Dew, his Ford truck, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his wife and family. He will always be remembered for his dynamic personality, intelligence, work ethic, integrity, attention to neatness and his loyalty to his friends and family. Dustin was a one-of-a-kind individual who took pride in everything he did. Dustin was truly loved and treasured by his family.
Survivors include his princess, Rachel; his three brothers, Clete, Zach and Josh of Eckert, Colo.; and his six sisters, Hayley (Keith) Wiggins of Gunnison, Colo., Heidi (Chris) Kluesner of Farley, Heather (Steve) Downer of Aurora, Sara (Ross) McCool of Dyersville, Megan (Troy) Heiderscheit of Farley and Lindsay Bissell of Millville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jade; grandparents, Harold and Margaret Bissell and Lloyd Bond; and his father-in-law, Ben Vigil.
A Dustin Bissell memorial account has been set up at American Trust, 400 First St. SW, Farley, IA 52046. A benefit to help assist with medical expenses will be held at Nick's Bar & Grill, 4958 Johnson Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20.
