Binger, Richard Dean
Richard Dean Binger, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly Monday, Nov. 21, 2011. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Family will greet friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brown; three children, Patricia (Robert) Allard, Keith Binger and Stephanie (Brian) Hamer; four grandchildren, Chloe and Calvin Hamer and Chad (Amanda) Allard and Kelly (Kai) Stark; four great-grandchildren, Taggart and Harrison Stark, and Ben and Katie Allard; and his five nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Richard was born Sept. 16, 1928, in rural Floyd County, the son of George and Frances (Brooks) Binger. He graduated from Charles City High School and served in the Iowa Army National Guard Red Bull Division. On Sept. 26, 1981, Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Brown (Hall) in Omaha, Neb. Richard worked in sales for Ar-Jay Building Products, served as past-president of the Charles City Jaycees and was a member of the Iowa Army National Guard Red Bull Division. He served on the Student Built House Committee and enjoyed his Tuesday Bridge Club. Richard was a man of great faith who took pride and joy in his family and gave them unconditional love.
