Billy "Bill" Dean Kriegel, 84, was called to his eternal home by his loving God and God's son, Jesus Christ, his Savior, on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014. A visitation to celebrate Bill's life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday,
Sept. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. Burial: 2 p.m., Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama.
Bill was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa. His family moved to Tama, where he graduated from Tama High School. He was baptized, confirmed and married to Beverly (Vavra) Kriegel in 1953 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. A few years later, his brother-in-law hired Bill as a carpenter in Marion. His entire family has been loyal members of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and enjoyed flowers.
Bill and Beverly have four boys, Doug and Janice Kriegel and Dennis and Ellie Kriegel, both of Coggon, Jeff and Tammy Kriegel of Center Point and Mark and Karla Kriegel of Marion. Bill also is survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter (Norma) Kriegel and Jack (Lois) Kriegel; and one sister, Virginia (the late Arlo) Mildenstein. All very loving and close; we shall miss Bill, but God will be with us all until we meet again in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Myrtle (Fisher) Kriegel; and grandson, Kory.
