Billie Eugene Detweiler, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died at home on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, by Celebrant Dawn Stephens. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors: Campbell Cemetery, Bertram.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elaine; children, Sandra (Rollie) Hahn, Christopher (Mary Kay) Detweiler and David Detweiler; grandchildren, Michael Hahn, Amber (Scott) Bridges, Casey (Lucas) Treangen, Annie Detweiler, Alex Smith, Addison "AJ" (Megan) Smith, Michael (Madison) Stout, Ashlynd Stout, Levi Detweiler, Reba Detweiler and Maurissa Jacobus; great-grandchildren, Nora and Calvin Hahn, Nash and Lane Treangen, Iris, Grace and Clyde Detweiler, Elliot Jacobus and Rhen-Leigh Detweiler; and brothers, Dwain, Merlyn and Donald Detweiler.
Billie was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of William and Blanche (Norris) Detweiler. He graduated from Wellman High School in 1950, then served for nearly two years in the United States Army. On April 24, 1971, Billie married Elaine Wolfe at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He worked for 35 years for Northwestern Bell and AT&T. Following retirement, he enjoyed attending farm and livestock sales and helping farmers with livestock transportation. Billie raised many head of cattle over the years and enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye sports.
Billie was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Barbara; brother, Ronald; daughter, Dawn Stout; sisters-in-law, Ruth, Mary Ellen, Frances and Gelaine Detweiler; and nephews, Lynn, Dennis and Bobby Detweiler.
