WILLIAM CARL TUECKE
Marion
Bill Tuecke, 78, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 7, at Veritas Church, 509 Third St. SE, Cedar Rapids. Visitation is 11 a.m. to noon, with service held at noon and lunch immediately following.
Bill was born on Dec. 2, 1939, the son of Carl and Ruth (Corson) Tuecke in rural Clayton County Iowa, in a log cabin, which still stands today.
On Aug. 19, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Becker. Bill's father taught him the electrical trade and later he became a member of IBEW Local 405, working for ESCO for many years. During retirement, he volunteered his time doing electrical work with "Old Farts Electric," including restoring over 200 flood homes. Bill was an artist, delighting his family with his talent. He enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. In 1999, Bill was diagnosed with throat cancer and the direction of his life changed. Formerly known as "Wild Bill," he then desired to make the name of the Lord known. Bill was grateful for the love of God in the face of Christ Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John, and son, Mark.
Those left to cherish his legacy include his wife of 56 years, Mary; his brother, Daniel; his daughter, Kari (Ron) Horak; sons, Scott (Angie) and Andrew (Beth); 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
