Bill Herdliska, 68, died unexpectedly on April 16, 2016. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services in Cedar Rapids.
Bill was born May 19, 1947, and was a longtime resident of Marion before moving to live with his brother in Piedmont, S.C.
Survivors include his brother, Gary Herdliska of Piedmont, S.C.; sisters, Lin Madeson (Michael) of Nashotah, Wis., and Debbie Bolton (Michael) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three nephews; one niece; five great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Herdliska, and father, Richard Herdliska.
Bill was a Vietnam veteran with the 1st Battalion, 1st Regiment 1st Air Calvary Division and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as gardening.
Bill will forever be remembered for his dedication in caring for his mother, Betty, and his grandmother, Helen Markwell, during their lifetimes.
