Bill “Butch” Ellison, 63, of Fairview, IA, died Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the Klein Center in West Burlington, IA.
William Cleve Ellison, Jr. was born January 10, 1962 in Fairview. He was the son of William Cleve Ellison, Sr. and Margaret Ann (Cummings) Peiffer.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a roofer for Roof Riders, L.L.C. of Iowa City.
Bill was known to family and friends for his unselfish willingness to always lend a hand.
Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Dan Peiffer of Sabula, IA, Ben Peiffer of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Cassie Isaac and her husband Danny of Cedar Rapids, Joey Ellison of Monticello, IA and Robin Holderness and her husband Pat of Cedar Rapids; his stepmother, Marilyn Ellison; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His parents and stepfather, Herbert Peiffer, precede Bill in death.
Bill chose to donate his body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program for anatomical research. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later date in the Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. He also requested that no service take place, but that those wanting to honor Bill should listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Freebird” in Bill’s memory.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.
