Bildstein, Henry 'Jr.'
Henry “Jr.” Bildstein, 82, of Earlville, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earlville, by the Rev. Dennis Quint. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Earlville, with a 2 p.m. Scripture service. Additional visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, before the Mass, at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Henry was born April 19, 1930, in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Clem and Oda (Goedken) Bildstein, attending school in Petersburg.
On Oct. 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Eileen Greiner. The couple farmed in the Earlville area their entire life. Henry enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Yankees fan, was always a half-hour early, especially to church, and enjoyed visiting with everyone.
Henry is survived by his wife, Eileen of Earlville; two children, Susan Schulte and Donald (Janice) Bildstein, both of Earlville; three grandchildren, Scott Schulte of Farley, Jay (Jilian) Schulte of Cedar Rapids, and Chris Schulte of Earlville; two great-grandchildren, Sylva and Asher Schulte; Diane and Erwin Steffen and family of Dyersville; two siblings, Olga Helle and Ardella (Monroe) Hoffmann; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lavern and Betty Willenborg, Ethel Sperfslage, and JoAnn Greiner.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Oda Bildstein; son-in-law, Ron Schulte; one great-grandchild, Jenner Schulte; siblings, Esther (Gib) Digman and Matt (Adella) Bildstein; a brother-in-law, Marvin Helle; his father- and mother-in-law, Leo and Hilda Greiner; and brothers-in-law, Laurence Greiner and Richard Sperfslage.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Henry “Jr.'s” memory.
