Biermann, Larry Lee
Larry Lee Biermann, 45, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Tripoli, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born April 23, 1966, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of John and Marlys (Stumme) Biermann. Larry was a lifetime member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli, where he was baptized and confirmed. He went to school and graduated from Tripoli High School, and went on to graduate from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo with a degree in graphic arts. On Aug. 20, 2009, Larry was united in marriage to Russell Driskill in Providence Town, Mass. Larry and Russell made their home in Cedar Rapids.
Larry is survived by his spouse, Russell Driskill of Cedar Rapids; his parents, John and Marlys Biermann of Tripoli; a sister, Linda (Wayne “Andy”) Anderson of Tripoli; two brothers, Lawain (Marcella) Biermann of Tripoli and Lowell (Linda) Biermann of Tripoli; seven nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as his four-legged “kids,” Louis Lee and the girls.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; a cousin, Mark Homeister; and four uncles, Harold Meyer, Laverne Biermann, Virgil Biermann and Erwin Blasberg.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli, with the Rev. Marilyn Sargent officiating. Inurnment to be at a later date.
Public visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Faith United Church of Christ, 408 S. Main St., Tripoli, and one hour before the services on Thursday.
The family suggests memorials be given to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or to the United Church of Christ Accessibility Fund, 408 S. Main St., Tripoli, Iowa.
