Biderman, Lenore A.
Lenore A. Biderman, 91, of Ely, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Rogers Grove Cemetery.
Lenore was born Aug. 8, 1919, in rural Linn County, the daughter of Adolph and Stella (Nemecek) Nezerka. She married Lumir C. Biderman on Sept. 1, 1939, at First Presbyterian Church near Ely. She operated Biderman Hardware and Implement when Lumir was overseas during World War II. She later worked at the Cedar Rapids Municipal Airport, restaurants in Czech Village, and finally at Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee.
She was highly active in the Ely Legion Auxiliary, First Presbyterian Church near Ely, Ely Town & Country, and Ely Senior Dining. She was best known for her kolaches and other baked goods. Never did more energy come in such a compact package.
Lenore is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Jan) Furler of Ely; a son, Ted (Pat) Biderman of Marion; grandchildren, Jason (Brandy) Furler, Nate Furler (Jason Rausch), Danielle (Wade) Kapanke and Katie Biderman; and great-grandsons, Landry Furler and William Kapanke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lumir; and a brother, Adolph Nezerka.
