Bickford, Gwendola G.

Gwendola G. Bickford, 78, of Onslow, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Gwen's family will receive friends and family Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lahey's Funeral Home in Wyoming. A 3 p.m. Service of Remembrance will be held Monday at the funeral home in Wyoming, with burial in Clay Cemetery.

Gwen Hildebrand was born May 19, 1935, in Ely, Nev., daughter of Earnest and Lois Pilkington Hildebrand. She married Dale Bickford on March 23, 1953, in Las Vegas, Nev.

She had been employed with Clinton Engines in Maquoketa, John Deere in Dubuque, Parsons Technology, and Collins Radio in Anamosa, She and her husband had owned and operated Onslow Grocery in Onslow, until it was sold in 1991.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, fishing, gardening, hunting mushrooms, but most of all spending time with her family.

Gwen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dale of Onslow; three daughters, Carol (Mrs. Randy) Cress, Linda Bickford and Dee Ann Bell, all of Anamosa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters.

Memorials are preferred.
