A Rosary Service will be held at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids commencing at 4:30 pm Friday, July 11. Following the rosary, friends may visit with the family until 6:30 pm. An additional visitation opportunity will be available at 9:30 am prior to a 10:30 Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Saturday, July 12. Bibi was born on September 1, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Liborius and Leona (Kiefer) Conrad of Sigourney, Iowa. She graduated High School from the Ottumwa Heights Academy in 1953 and went on to take classes at the Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing in Ottumwa. Bibi was united in marriage with Daniel D. Chadwick on August 21, 1954, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Sigourney. Four boys and four girls were subsequently born of this union. Bibi was an extremely outgoing, kind, and generous person who immediately made friends with everyone she met. Folks who encountered Bibi recognized her as a unique and loving individual and relished her acquaintance. She enjoyed the friendship of others but held a special place in her heart for the Lord and his Saints. Bibi volunteered for many years at the Heritage Care Center as well as Green Square Meals. Upon reaching her 70’s Bibi decided to take up sports and played several years in the Granny Basketball league. In addition to her role (which she cherished) as a mother and homemaker, she also worked for several years at Bishop’s Cafeteria where she was fondly known as the Salad Lady.
Survivors include her husband, Dan of Cedar Rapids; children Tim (Faye) Chadwick of Coggon, Susan (Doug) Blair of Melbourne, Florida, Tracy Anctil of Kansas City, Missouri, Chris (Robin) Chadwick of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Scott Chadwick of Ballwin, Missouri, Stephanie Chadwick of Cedar Rapids, and Eric (Andrea) Chadwick of Le Sueur, Minnesota, plus 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving Bibi are in-laws Shirley Shellberg of Windsor, Colorado, Sandra Heil of Port Angeles, Washington, and David Chadwick of Dallas, Texas, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Rita Marie, grandson Benjamin Chadwick, her parents Leona (Keifer) Conrad and Liborius Conrad, sisters Helen Gann, Frances Greenley, Isabelle Flander, and son-in-law Paul Anctil.
Memorials may be directed to the Willis Dady Shelter in Cedar Rapids or any other charity of the donor’s choice. Please share a memory of Bibi at www.cedarmemorial.com.
