Beverly J. Munnik, 72, of Marion, formerly of Williamsburg and Sheffield, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at home with family at her side.
Beverly was born Nov. 29, 1944, to Everett and Betty Lilley Engebretson, in Hampton, Iowa. She grew up in Sheffield and graduated with the Class of 1963. She married Bastian (JR) Munnik on Feb. 12, 1965, in Sheffield.
She worked many years at Iowa Eye Associates in Williamsburg and as a receptionist and bank teller after moving to Cedar Rapids. Her proudest and most accomplished job was taking care of her family. She and Bastian were longtime members of St. Paul's UMC in Williamsburg and Lovely Lane UMC in Cedar Rapids.
Beverly enjoyed gardening and camping, and often volunteered at her church. She will be missed for her contagious smile and her caring and thoughtfulness of others.
She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Betty Engebretson of Sheffield; daughter, Carrie (Rodney) Shifflett of Marion; son, Todd (Susan) Munnik of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Ryan, Tayler and Olivia Shifflett and Lillian and Mason Munnik; sisters, Christina (Alan) Duea of Clear Lake, Emily (Duane) Kruckenberg of Iowa Falls, Bertha (Jim) Heilskov of Hampton and LuAnn (Bob) Sharp of Davenport; brother, Martin Engebretson of Sheffield; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bastian, in 2014; her father, Everett; and her nephew, Timothy Kruckenberg.
Services are Saturday, Dec. 10, at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. with a celebration of life at 2 p.m., followed by a reception.
