Beverly Marie Welch, 88, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, surrounded by family at home. Beverly was born November 16, 1935, to Henry and Merle Opperman of Strawberry Point, IA. Beverly married Doran Welch April 9, 1955, 69 years ago. They have 3 daughters, Kristine (Robert) Thomas of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Late David) Brown of Pleasant Hill, MO, Kathleen (Wayne) Norris of Liberty, IN, 5 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Beverly loved music and square dancing. Beverly was very active in the church throughout her life. She was the organist for many years, active with the ladies’ groups making quilts, visiting shut-ins, cooking for funeral services. Doran and Beverly also stepped up at Trinity Lutheran School to perform janitorial services for a couple of years when no one else could be found to do the job. Beverly retired from Rockwell and was active in their craft club and the Rec Center.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Merle Opperman, brothers, Arnold (June), Richard (Celia) and sister, Vernita (Walter) Faust.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 17, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
